Introduction

Ah…Woodcutting, one of the simplest, if not the simplest skill in RuneScape. The Name suggests it all; this skill is all about cutting wood! In this guide I will explain all about what to use to woodcut, how to woodcut, what to woodcut and the benefits of woodcutting. I hope you enjoy.

Axes

Dr. Ford has dealt with many cases in the past where patients have tried to cut trees with all sort of objects usually resulting in serious consequences. Last time I visited him, he told me of people attempting to cut trees with Scimitars, Swords and cooking knives, even one exceptional case. He had just visited a new player after they had hit their head when mining, and after a successful recovery, had given them a banana. After receiving the banana, he told me, they attempted to chop down a Yew Tree with it, resulting in an instant banana split, two blinded eyes, and a free trip to Lumbridge. It is therefore extremely important that you know what an axe is, and how to use it, so lets begin!

As with many other weapons there are axes made of Bronze, Iron, Steel, Black, Mithril, Adamantite and Rune. Whilst Mithril, Adamantite and Rune Axes are harder to come by, theres a place in Lumbridge that sells Bronze, Iron, Steel and Black Axes. This shop is called Bob's axes, and is situated just south of Lumbridge Castle, as shown on this mini-map.

Here you will meet Bob:

Bob is an axe expert in runescape, and not only does he sell axes, he can also repair them for you. just take your broken axe with you in your bag, 'use' the axe head with Bob and he will fix it for you, for a price.

Mithril, Adamantite and Rune Axes can be bought on the street from players, and sometimes these axes may appear in general stores.

How to Chop a Tree

Now you've got your axe, lets head off to a tree and try it out. There are trees all over RuneScape, and there are many different types, they will all be explained in the next chapter. But for beginners to the woodcutting skill, we must find a tree that isnt called 'Oak', or 'Willow' or 'Yew', just one that is called a 'Tree.' These are the common trees of RuneScape, and these are the trees which you can start your woddcutting training.

So then, to cut a tree:
1. Click on your axe in your bag to wield it.
2. Left Click on the tree, or Right Click on it and click 'Chop Down Tree' as shown below

3. Watch as the logs you have chopped appear in your bag
4. Move onto another tree and repeat

And thats all there is to it! Happy cutting!
