Introduction
Every RuneScape player passes through Lumbridge at some point in the game since it is the site of the game's start point and default respawn point. However, few people spend much time in Lumbridge, mostly due to its reputation for large numbers of new players hanging around the area. Despite this, Lumbridge is still an immensely useful town in many ways. The town itself is quite small. For the sake of this guide, I have broken it down into three areas: the Castle; the area south of the Castle; and the area north of the Castle. Also, there are two large farms in the Lumbridge area: one to the
northwest; and one to the northeast, which will both be covered.
Lumbridge Castle
Lumbridge Castle is the largest building in the town and is impossible to miss. The start/respawn point is in the castle's courtyard. The courtyard also contains two fountains from which water can be collected. There are also two trees and one oak. Lvl 2 men and women and lvl 1 rats can be found in the area. Also, a guide NPC, Hans, can be found here too. There are two bronze pickaxe respawns on the second (top) floor of the gatehouse.
The ground floor of the castle boasts numerous respawns as well as the start
point for the Cook's Assistant quest, which can be started by talking to the Cook in the kitchen. In the kitchen, you will also find respawns for a knife, a bowl, a pot and a jug as well as a trapdoor, a sink and a special range which reduces the chance of burning food when cooking it. There is another guide NPC, Gee, on the ground floor as well. There are two staircases, one at the north of the castle, and one at the south. There is a bronze arrow respawn next to the north staircase and a mind rune respawn next to the south staircase. Lvl 2 men and women, lvl 2 imps and lvl 1 rats can be found on the ground floor.
Up one level on the first floor, there are two rooms. The north room contains Duke Horacio, who you can talk to to start the Rune Mysteries quest and Sigmund, who you can talk to to start the Lost Tribe members-only quest. The south room contains a spinning wheel, useful for the Sheep Shearer quest, and a bronze dagger respawn, on top of the drawers. Lvl 2 men and women can be found on the first floor.
Going up another level, you come to the top floor. There are four log respawns to the north of the area.
If you go down through the kitchen trapdoor, you come to the castle's basement. There are respawns here for a knife, a bucket, a cabbage, a jug and a pair of leather boots. The basement is populated by lvl 1 spiders. There is also a passage which leads to the Lost Tribe quest area.
South Lumbridge
The church is the large building in the eastern side of South Lumbridge. There is an altar where you can recharge your prayer and an organ you can play. You can talk to Father Aereck to start the Restless Ghost quest.
South of the church is the graveyard, where there is a single Yew tree and a small building, which is part of the Restless Ghost quest.
The southernmost house contains a range, although you are better to use the Cook's range since it is so close by.
The southern entrance to the western building brings you into Bob's Axes, where you can buy and sell: bronze pickaxes; bronze axes; iron axes; steel axes; iron battleaxes; steel battleaxes; and mithril battleaxes. Bob can also repair any damaged pickaxes.
The other entrance in the building brings you into a house with a sink.
The southern area has a large number of level 2 men and women.
There is a walkway out through the Lumbridge Cemetary. It will take you to the Fishing and Mining tutors in Lumbridge Swamp.
Near the Mining tutor there is a net which you can pick up and use.

The Fishing tutor is located here:

There is a fishing spot spot, the tutor, and a net.
The Mining tutor is located here:

You can find Tin and Copper rocks here, as well as the Mining tutor.

North Lumbridge
Immediately north of the castle's entrance, you will find the useful Lumbridge Guide NPC, intended to help new players find their way around. Further north, you will find another guide NPC, Donie.
The Lumbridge General Store is useful as it is the only general store for some distance around. It is rarely used on P2P worlds but on F2P worlds, you are likely to find raw and cooked fish, silver bars, oak and willow logs and leather armour plus a wide variety of low level equipment and runes. Opposite the store there is a furnace, which is the closest furnace for the mines at Lumbridge Swamp and South Varrock.
There are many trees in the areas as well as an oak near the north bridge and two willows between the river and the house south of the furnace.
The area is also home to a number of lvl 2 NPCs including men, women, goblins and imps as well as the lvl 1 ducks in the river.
Across The River
Crossing the south bridge over the river Lum, brings you to a gate which leads into the Al-Kharid desert area. There is a fee of 10gp to pass, unless you have completed the Prince Ali Rescue quest. The alternative route is to head north past all of the farms, a little east, and then back down all the way south.
The area also has a very large number of trees and oaks as well as lots of lvl 2 and lvl 5 goblins.
To the north, adjacent to the other bridge, there are two Bait/Lure fishing spots and another guide NPC, Gee.
West Farm
The west Lumbridge farm covers a large area along the road north of the general store. From the store, the road first passes a gate into a sheep field where you can gather wool with shears. There is a stile into this field which allows access at the north west corner as well which provides a small shortcut around the corner. The field also contains an oak, next to the gate.
The next field is to the north of the road, and contains a huge number of cabbages, useful if you require them for farming. When members pick cabbages there is also a small chance of finding cabbage seeds at the same time.
Next you pass the house of Fred the Farmer, on the south side of the road. At the front of the house there are some lvl 1 chickens and a bronze axe respawn (you have to take the axe from the logs). In the house, there is a sink and Fred, who you can talk to to start the Sheep Shearer quest. Behind the house, there is a small field of twelve onions.
Next, to the north of the road, you pass a mill and a wheat field, useful for creating flour. Water for making dough can be gathered from the sink in Fred's house.
To the south of the road after Fred's house, there is a duck pond with lvl 1 ducks and ducklings, surrounded by six willow trees. There are also a number of other trees scattered throughout the area.
Beyond the pond, there is a large field of potatoes, again useful for farming.
The last field, to the north of the road, contains a number of haystacks and hay bails where you can search for needles. There is also a shears respawn in the northeast corner. The road then continues west to Draynor Manor, Draynor Village, Port Sarim, Falador, and Rimmington.
There is one last field to the north of the mill which contains a number of lvl 2 cows and cow calfs as well as a dairy cow near the gate. This field is often quieter than the one to the west and can be good for gathering cow hides when the other is too busy. The field also contains numerous trees and two oaks.
There are a lot of lvl 2 and lvl 5 goblins in the area as well as lvl 2 imps and a lvl 7 farmer.
East Farm
The east Lumbridge farm covers a fairly large area to the northeast of the town. From the east side of the north bridge, the road heads north, first passing the entrance to a large field containing many lvl 2 cows and cow calfs as well as one dairy cow near the gate.
Next, there is a small field to the west of the road which contains a haystack and hay bails where you can search for a needle. The next field to the west of the road contains the house of farmer Seth Groats. This field also contains a large number of lvl 1 chickens, a lvl 7 farmer, an egg respawn and a bronze axe respawn (again, you have to take the axe from the logs).
Further north along the road, you pass a huge field of potatoes. The road then continues north and then heads west to Varrock and east to Varrock, the Dig Site, or Al-Kharid, passing lvl 2 imps, lvl 2 and lvl 5 goblins and a lvl 7 farmer.
Directly north of the farmhouse, there is an area which contains a lvl 7 farmer, a hops patch tended by Vasquen as well as three willows and two trees.
